Joy for Virginia

A New Voice for District 51
I’m Joy Powers — a fourth-generation farmer, mom, and advocate.
I’m running for the Virginia House of Delegates because our rural communities deserve real representation — not party politics or special interests. From the farm to the firehouse, the classroom to the clinic, we deserve leadership that listens and fights for us.
Rural Virginia has been left behind long enough. But we know the truth: we are not powerless — we are homegrown, hardworking, and ready to be heard.
Joy Introduces The H.O.M.E. Plan
Healthcare. Opportunity. Market Affordability. Education.
This is my common-sense blueprint to fight for working families and rural communities.
Healthcare
-
Expand access to rural health clinics and family doctors
-
Support EMS, fire, and rescue services in underserved areas
-
Protect maternal health and increase mental health services
-
Make it easier and more affordable to care for aging parents
Opportunity
-
Invest in small business growth, job training, and apprenticeships
-
Build out broadband and basic infrastructure in every zip code
-
Support local food systems, family farms, and value-added agriculture
-
Bring clean industry and long-term investment to our rural towns
Market Affordability
-
Protect family property rights from forced solar and outside developers
-
Lower costs on food, fuel, housing, and utilities
-
Fix unfair insurance rates that punish rural residents
-
Ensure working families can afford to stay rooted in the places they love
Education
-
Fully fund public schools and pay teachers a fair wage
-
Stop political attacks on school boards, teachers, and libraries
-
Expand CTE, trades, and dual enrollment programs in every high school
-
Keep decisions about kids in the hands of parents, educators, and communities — not Richmond
This Campaign Is About All of Us
Joy says "I’m not running to climb a political ladder — I’m running to make sure our kids, our farms, and our future are protected."
We don’t need more politicians. We need someone who understands what it means to work the land, raise a family, and fight for the people who built this place.
Joy is here to bring this seat — and our future — back home.
